Belleville Minor Hockey  - Shriners Tournament

2010 Rules

1.       Any player receiving a 5 minute fighting Major or Match penalty will be ineligible for any further tournament play.

2.       All games will be 1 x 10 min and 2 x 15 min period.  Each team will be guaranteed 3 games minimum.

3.       Teams must be ready to play (15) minutes before designated game starting times and will get a 3 minute warm up.  Hand shake before the game.  Players Line up after the game on Blue Line for MVP assignment.  Opposition Coach assists tournament convener to declare opposing teams MVP.

4.       Run time will be applied in the third period if the goal differential becomes 5. It will revert back to stop time if the goal differential becomes 2.

5.       5 Point System                 1 point per period won

1/2 point for a tied period

2 points for a win

1 point each for a tied game

0 points for a loss

6.       Floods will take at the end of each game. Players or team staff may not enter the ice surface until Zamboni doors are shut.

7.       In the event of a tie the following procedure will be followed, in this order

i)                   The results of the games between the teams involved will determine a winner(head to head)

ii)                 Divide the goals for by the total goals for and against. The teams with the highest percentage will prevail.

iii)               The team that scored the first goal of the game between the two tied teams.

iv)               The team with the least amount of penalty minutes will be declared the winner.

v)                 The team who scored the earliest goal in their game will be declared the winner.

vi)               Flipping a coin.

8.       A three man official system will be used for all Bantam games. Two or Three man system for Pee Wee Minor.  The first and second place teams in each division will advance to Sunday’s A- finals, the 3rd and 4th place teams will advance to Sunday’s B finals.  (Bantam’s 5th and 6th place and Pee Wee Minor 3rd place, No Final Games)

9.       In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time during Sunday’s playoffs, a 5 minute sudden victory will be played, starting with 4 players plus goalie per side.  Line changes can only be made on the fly, not on whistles.  Players will be added in the event of a penalty.  If still tied after 5 min we go to 3 on 3 for 5 min, then 2 on 2, then 1 on 1.

10. One (1) 30 second "timeout” per team will be permitted during the finals only.

11.   Championship and finalist awards will be given to all declared players and up to 4 staff members.

12.   All teams MUST bring stamped approved roster to the tournament.

13.   The Tournament Committee reserves the right to render final decisions regarding rule protest and objections, and any other matter that may arise.
