September 21st,
2011. The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario [IBAO] extended their
annual sponsorship of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association [OMHA] to
introduce a brand new goalie outreach program called, 'The Best Insurance
is a Good Goalie'.
The OMHA and IBAO Goaltender Equipment Outreach Program is
an effort to support children who have dreams of becoming a hockey
goaltender, by providing a set of hockey goaltending equipment to 5-7 year
old players interested in trying the position. In addition, IBAO will
provide minor hockey associations with goaltending resources to aid
coaches. Over forty sets of new equipment will be given to young players
across the province.

Outreach Program Goalie Kit.
"IBAO continues to support this great provincial group
focused on building and growing the skills of youth in our
communities," stated IBAO CEO, Randy Carroll. "Brokers are
committed to the people and programs in their communities. This type of
sponsorship directly relates to that commitment by encouraging youth to be
active."

'We are thankful for the support of the Insurance Brokers of
Ontario,' stated OMHA President Joyce Junker. 'Becoming a goaltender
requires a significant initial investment. This Program will help afford
children a better opportunity to get a chance to try the position.'

As a result of the
recent Ontario Hockey Federation motion with respect to Body Checking in
House League Hockey, the OMHA Development Committee has drafted a
recommendation, which has been subsequently reviewed and adopted for
implementation by the OMHA Sub-Committee. This will take effect
immediately, for the coming 2011-2012 season.

As the current OMHA Team Entry Fee structure does not
identify a fee for MD entries, teams entering in this category will be at
the current fee for Select League [see OMHA Manual of Operations Regulation
4.5]. Any reconciliation, if necessary for teams in this situation, will
follow.
The OMHA By-Law and Regulations Committee will undertake a
review of impact on current Regulation 4.5.
The OMHA Tournament Committee will also address the impact
of the document as it applies to Tournaments, and revise the OMHA
Tournament booklet accordingly.
As with any change, questions may inevitably arise. Please
do not hesitate in directing your inquiries to your Regional Executive
Member or the OMHA Office.
