With their series tied 1-1, the Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls travelled to Peterborough on Thursday night to play game 3 of their best of 5 series (6 points). The Jr. Petes opened the scoring in the first period and Nathan Ketcheson scored from Ryan Lee to tie it one apiece. Peterborough went ahead again in the second period, only to have Will Smith tie the game up with an unassisted goal. Peterborough then broke the game open in the third, scoring 3 goals in four minutes, adding a last minute goal, to take pivotal game 3 by a score of 6-2. Tristin Muir suffered the loss in goal.
Game 4 saw the Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls battle hard in a close game against the Jr. Petes at the Wally Dever arena Saturday evening. After a scoreless opening period, Peterborough scored two early and quick goals, only 30 seconds apart. Austin Boyd then replied for the Ascent Bulls with Ryan Lee picking up an assist. The Petes scored in the dying seconds of the second period, to go up
The Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls were swept in three games in the first round of OMHA Playdowns, losing to the Uxbridge Stars.
The Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls opened the Lakeshore League ‘second season' against the Peterborough Jr. Petes on Saturday earning a 3-1 win. After a scoreless opening period, Will Smith scored on a breakaway with 48 seconds left in the period to go up 1-0. Nathan Ketcheson scored early in the third to put the Junior Bulls up 2-0, with Austin Boyd and Ryan Lee earning assists. The Junior Petes made the game interesting by scoring with over 3 minutes to go in third, but Ryan Lee scored an empty netter to secure the 3-1 win, Blake Bush earning an assist. Ben Orr McCausland had a terrific game between the pipes.
Game 2 saw the Peterborough Jr. Petes turn the table on the Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls, winning 7-3 in Belleville. The Junior Bulls came out flat against the Petes and found themselves down 3-0 after the first period. A
The Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls travelled to Uxbridge on Saturday night, losing 10-2 to the Stars. The Junior Bulls were in the game until the middle of the second, down only 2-1 on an un-assisted goal from Austin Boyd. The Stars then took control of the game, scoring 8 un-answered goals before Will Smith scored late in the third period, assisted by Jeremy Cassidy and Nathan Ketcheson. Tristin Muir took the loss in goal.
On Sunday night, the Ascent Bulls hosted rival Kingston Canadians, losing 2-0 in a very evenly matched contest. After 2 scoreless periods, the Junior Bulls pressed hard in the third but Kingston scored 2 goals to secure the win. Ben Orr-McCausland had a solid game between the pipes in the loss. The Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls traveled to Ajax on Saturday afternoon, dropping a hard fought 2-1 battle to the Knights. The Junior Bulls found themselves down 2-0 early in the third period, when Nathan Ketcheson scored from Austin Boyd and Will Smith to narrow the gap to 2-1. With Tristin Muir making several key saves throughout the game, the Ascent Bulls pressed hard late in the third period but could not come up with the equalizer.
On Sunday night, the Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls hosted the league leading Whitby, losing 8-1 to the Wildcats. Nathan Ketcheson scored the lone goal for the Bulls, with Austin Boyd picking up the assist. Ben Orr McCausland took the loss in net.
Next up – the Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls travel to Uxbridge on Saturday (7:00pm – Stouffville Arena), and host the Kingston Canadians on Sunday (5:30pm – Wally Dever) in their last regular season game.
The Ascent Minor Peewee AE Jr. Bulls hosted the Peterborough Jr. Petes on Saturday night at the Wally Dever arena, their first of a home and home series. After a scoreless first period, the Jr. Bulls jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the second, with Austin Boyd scoring on a nice feed from Matthew Visser. The Jr. Bulls controlled much of the play throughout the second and third periods. Will Smith scored an un-assisted goal early in the third period and Nathan Ketcheson scored in the last minute from Ryan Lee and Dylan Patterson. Ben Orr-McCausland had a terrific game in net earning the shutout in the 3-0 win.
On Sunday afternoon, the Ascent Jr. Bulls travelled to Peterborough, concluding in a 3-3 draw. The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, with Nathan Ketcheson scoring from Austin Boyd. Peterborough went up 2-1 after the second. Blake Bush scored early in the third to tie the game up at 2 apiece. Austin Boyd put the Jr. Bulls ahead 3-2 in the middle of the third,
On Saturday afternoon (12-22), the Ascent Minor Peewee Jr. Bulls travelled to Kingston and delivered a pre-Christmas gift with a 6-2 win over the Canadians. The Junior Bulls controlled much of the play from the drop of the puck, with Austin Boyd and Nathan Ketcheson scoring, leading 2-0 after the first. Karma-Tenzin Matho scored to make it 3-0 after the second period. The Ascent Bulls then put the game out of reach in the third with Ketcheson picking up his second goal of the game and Austin Boyd completing the hat-trick. Picking up assists in the game were Ryan Lee (2), Nathan Ketcheson, Blake Bush and Garrett Williams. Tristin Muir played a solid game between the pipes.
