The International Truckload Service Novice AA Jr Bulls capped a wonderful season by winning the OMHA Championship this past weekend with a 6-2 victory in game four over the Port Hope Phantoms. The Jr Bulls solid goaltending, defense and offensive balance proved too much for the Phantoms as they fell in four games. On route to the championship the Bulls put together a pretty dominant "AA” season/playoff as their record was 37-1 with the only loss coming in game 2 of the final series. Saturday in game 3 the Jr Bulls skated away with a 4-3 win after a late push by the Phantoms in which goalie Brady Spry held the fort in net for the Bulls. Goals came from Cooper Matthews with 2, Trevor Hoskin and Cater Lee with the game winner. Assists went to Hoskin 2, Rheydan McCoy, Donovan McCoy, Marcus Asimis, Sami Douglas-Najem and Jack Prophet. The OMHA best of five finals schedule has been released and the Bulls look to take advantage of their home status versus the Port Hope Phantoms in the AA final for 2004 born players. The Phantoms are a formidable foe as they also have a desirable record of 27-1 in season/playoff and have ideas of their own for the championship. This should be a great exhibition of two of the top novice teams and players in the region. The Novice AA Jr Bulls are one of only two remaining Belleville Minor Hockey teams still competing for an any OMHA title with the Novice AE Jr Bulls being the other. The Jr Bulls home dates are at Rink A at the Quinte Wellness Centre Mar. 16 @ 1pm, Mar. 23 @ 6:15pm and Mar. 30 @ 12:45pm. Be sure to support your Jr. Bulls!
