The Wilson Sports Midget Minor AA jr Bulls are proving that the playoffs are an
entirely new season. The Midget Minors finished the regular season in 7th place and
had to face 2nd seed Oshawa in the opening round. The Bulls came out on top of that
series, beating Oshawa 5-2 in the fifth and deciding game. In the second round, the
Bulls travelled to Whitby but lost the first game 3-5 to the 3rd seed Whitby
Wildcats. Game 2 on Monday Feb 4th in Belleville saw a rejuvenated Bulls squad win
a thriller 5-4. The game was interrupted briefly in the second period when the
scoreboard and south wall lights suddenly extinguished in a scene oddly reminiscent
of the previous day's Super Bowl! That delay seemed to give the Bulls new life as
they stormed back from a 0-3 deficit to score 4 unanswered goals. Whitby tied the
contest at 4-4 only to find the Bulls sniper CJ Fox pot the winning goal with little
over one minute left to play. A disciplined Bulls squad shut down centre ice to
Wilson Sports Minor Midget AA Belleville Jr Bulls travelled to Lake Placid for the
American Cup Tournament for four days.
Game one saw a loss against Richmond Hill with a score of 3-1. Scoring
for the Jr Bulls was Riley Reynolds, assisted by Jeff Hoey. Between the pipes
in the "Home of the Miracle on Ice” rink was Ben Popovich.
Jr Bulls won game 2 with Jeff Hoey scoring the lone goal of the game, assisted by Reynolds
against the Kick Ice Coyotes from Williston, VT. Alex Crouter had the shutout
in net.
Game 3 against Lawrenceville, NJ secured the Jr Bulls a spot in the Championship Game,
with a score of 4-2. Goals scored by Kiefer Brough, Tye Eaton, Taylor Goodyear
and Hoey. Gathering assists were Brough (2), Hoey (2), Eaton, Shane Botting, Daniel Ulrick and Brady Sagriff-Martin.
Ben Popovich was solid in net.
The Championship game kept spectators on edge when the 3rd period
Wilson Sports Midget Minor AA Belleville Junior Bulls opened their
tournament in Richmond Hill with a 1-0 win against the Caledon Hawks. Lone
goal scored by Kiefer Brough, unassisted. Alex Crouter had the shut out.
Game 2 against Newmarket Redmen saw a 3-1 loss. Goal scored by Brough,
assisted by Zach Amolins and Taylor Goodyear. Working hard in net was Ben
Popovich.
The Jr Bulls had a lopsided win against the Vaughan Panthers with a score
of 9-0. Shane Botting supplied 2 goals, Jeff Hoey 2, Bradley Soule 1, Dan
Ulrick 1, Logan Elliott 1, Goodyear 1, and Kim Gauthier 1. Assists went
to Beau Tolls 2, Gauthier 1, Brady Sagriff-Martin 2, Botting 1, Kaelan
Hercus 1, Hoey 1, Brough 2, Amolins 2, Tye Eaton 1. Shut out was
celebrated by Crouter.
Game 4 was a loss to Burlington Eagles, with a score of 4-3. Eaton
supplied 2 goals, Sagriff-Martin had the other. A lone assist went to
Hoey. Solid in net was Popovich.
